Great place to enjoy the Great walks of New Zealand.
We did the Keplar track for 3 days and it was amazing. The scenery is breath taking and we got some outstanding whether. It even snowed on our hike which wasn't really expected for the time of year. The Huts were all clean and tidy and the Hutt Wardens do such a great job of keeping everyone informed and safe. Would recommend this Hike. It was also nice to come back and stay at a comfortable and reasonably priced place. Great Hot showers and comfortable rooms. We will be back.

People often only go to Te Anau just to take the Milford Sound tour. There is so much for to see and do! It really is a place to just relax.
Whether it's late night strolls to the souvenir stores or restaurants or taking walks along the amazing lake views that aren't crowded by other people.
If you ever want to try out cycling, Te Anau is the place to do it. Not much traffic and the price for bike hire is cheaper than Queenstown.
If you're in on a Sunday, go visit The Life Church that. A loving warm and friendly community over there.
When it comes to food, I found food shopping, Chinese food and other restaurant prices were cheaper than Queenstown. Oh, and souvenirs are also cheaper here too.

I just love the relaxed surroundings of Te Anau, it's one of my favorites destinations for a few'nights-getaway..there is lots to do and if you're adventurous you can do even more! Amazing nature, the lake is just stunning, township is not too big but has all you could want/need. Brilliant food places...love The Ranche and the Moose. Redcliff restaurant and bar is a unexpected find, quaint and quirky but great food and staff. Overall, Te Anau is a beautiful destination if you're looking for somewhere not too touristy (at least, it doesn't feel that way)

This is a nice location which has everything.
This is a nice location which has everything. The town centre has everything that you would need. Friendly people in shops and businesses. Great range of different restaurants. Excellent tourist attractions. Very convenient to Milford Sound - 2 hours through stunning countryside. A lot better to travel from Te Anau to Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound than to come from Queenstown - 4 hours travel
The best place we found to eat and just chill at was Red Cliff Bar and Restaurant - friendly staff, exceptional food and first rate service.
A couple of must do's are: Wings and Water (float plane) with Ivan and Cruise Te Anau with Peter. Both locals, highly entertaining and knowledgeable.

This is a great, very small town that makes a great stay to see the Fiordlands. Stay at a location with a view of the lake. Activities from here are a great choice. The lake and mountains are beautiful and eat at the Ranch, best place we ate on both islands.

A lovely place and central to attractions with easy access to Doubtful Sound. Really glad we missed out on Milford Sound as the trip to Doubtful was amazing. Did the Glow Worms tour which was wonderful.
Great Value for Money and perfect place to relax at Te Anau.. From the Hotel room I had experienced the good lake view, mountains, amazing sunset, birds music, etc.,. Initially, I thought it’s little far away from city but later I felt this is right choice considering the above. They have provided all necessary kitchenette for cooking. Comfortable queen size bed, clean restroom including all time hot water, more storage space, friendly staff and amazing view from hotel which made very happy trip.
The recepcionist (I think her name is Susan) helped us with the problem we had in our car that broke down that night. We didn't have any food to eat and because the hotel is a bit away of everything we couldn't have dinner in Te Anau as planned. She kindly gave us something to cook and helped us allowing us to use the phone to call our insurance. Our stay wasn't as planned but she certainly made it so much better. I learnt a lot about people's kindness that day. Thank you for that.
We stayed in the older section and were put in a suite with two bedrooms, a sitting area and kitchenette. Way more space than we needed but it was nice to have! The building manager lives on site and was very attentive. It's very dated but that didn't bother us at all. Very clean and comfortable and just off Lake Te Anau. Easy walk into town for restaurants, groceries etc. as well as a walking trail along the lake.
John and Tilly were super friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic time in Alpine View. It was cozy and well heated and very spacious. The motel is very close to town centre (2 minute drive), Te Anau bird sanctuary and many local nature walks. The highlight of our stay was meeting the General Manager Zeke and Head of Security Fluff. We were also greeted with a cold bottle of fresh milk which tasted amazing.
Motel looks & feels new, located at Te Anau lake front. View from unit 11 (upper level) was absolutely fabulous! The 2 bedroom unit can easily accomodate 5 based on bedding configuration, shared area is spacious, unit was super clean & has a kitchehette. Check in was efficient. Parking is plentily available as the ground is also used for camping & motor vans
It’s right next to the lake Te Anau and very close to the town center where you can find grocery stores, food, and shops. It’s such a peaceful hostel and it offers nice outdoor dining area. Loved its chill atmosphere. Would come back if I visit Te Anau again.
Amazing location, very close to the Te Anau lake with gorgeous views of the mountains. Very conveniently located for a drive to Milford sound and back in the same day. Lots of places to explore nearby as well. Gary was an amazing host!
Tasman Holiday Park is family friendly, shops and restaurants is a short 8-10 minute walk. The facilities are quite good, they also have hot tubs and a sauna. Lake Te Anau is right in front and great for a morning jog.
Very clean and comfortable room, beautiful grounds for basically a fit for any type of stay. Great location in the quaint little town Te Anau, highly recommend staying here.
Very affordable & comfortable stay in Te Anau. Everything was clean and kitchen was well-equipped. There is parking on site. Motel is situated close to the lake.
A lovely motel. Proprietors were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay at this motel the next occasion I am visiting Te Anau. A lovely experience!
Perfect location in Te Anau. Across the street from a lovely park and a few blocks from the main area of town. Great hosts and comfortable living!! Thanks!!!
